This whole experiment was insane. Dangerous even! Katherine swallowed again and fought the urge to run.
There was still time to cop out…no, it was too late. She couldn’t let her friends down now —
Trevor didn’t notice Katherine’s terror. He activated the big white button on the TPF and tried to find a good spot, pointing the TPF here and there. And sure enough, something began to shimmer by one of the grey rocks. A portal to the space-time continuum!
“I knew it!” Trevor cried.
Chryseis stared mesmerized at the shimmering spot. A time warp, this had to be a time warp! For the first time in her life she didn’t know what to say.
“All together. Now!” Trevor said.
On his signal, they pressed the red button through the plastic cover, locking in today’s time reference. Done. Step one was completed.
“I’m going to activate the time span now. Get ready.”
The girls grabbed each other’s hand and Trevor pushed the big white button a second time.

SPLASH! A school of dolphins swam alongside the ‘Navis Arion’ in effortless dives. In the early afternoon sun, the sea was a blanket of shimmering scales.
“How clear the water is!” Katherine marveled and gazed longingly into the shallow, turquoise water. “I wish we could just stop the ship right here and go for a swim with the dolphins.”
Trevor sat on a pile of coiled tackle, his hair tousled by the breeze. He steadied himself with his feet as he concentrated on drawing a strange seabird on the railing.
What swam around in these prehistoric oceans was still a complete mystery to them. They had only just left the country of Alesia and there were so many things they still had to learn about this strange world.
“You’re kidding, right? It’s not safe to swim.”
“I guess,” Katherine said.
It hadn’t even been a month since their trip through time and Katherine still wondered sometimes if this Alesian epoch was real.
“Do you sometimes think back how it was in the beginning? How we were scared when we saw our first giant?” she asked.
“Túvar?”
“Yes!”
“Sometimes - and for your information, I wasn’t scared.”
